How To Keep Your House Clean With Pets

Keeping your house clean is tough enough, but adding pets to the mix can make things even more challenging. Yes, we love them like family, but why do they have to be so messy? Although it may seem impossible, a clean house with pets is achievable. Keep on reading to find out how to keep to keep your house clean with pets running free at the same time.

Buy those cheap throw blankets in bulk

Toss a comfy blanket at the end of your bed or over your favorite chair to allow both you and your pets to relax. This will seriously prolong the life of your furniture. Make sure to grab tough fabrics that are machine washable, such as 100 percent cotton or an acrylic-cotton blend.

Use indoor/outdoor rugs

Indoor/outdoor rugs have become much more popular over the years, therefore you can find many stylish options out there that are available in a variety of color schemes. Place a small one in front of each door as a doormat to catch any debris your pet may bring in. You can also place one under the sofa, dining room table, and any other place your pet likes to lounge. These rugs are nice because they don't let anything soak in, and they wipe clean easily with a damp rag.

Use cooking spray on pet bowls

A quick spray of cooking spray will prevent stains on food dishes. Don't worry, it won't add any calories to your pet’s diet. It may seem silly to worry about the cleanliness of your pet's dishes, but if you prevent stains and build up, that's just less work for you later. You can also buy placemats to put under each pet's bowls to keep messes off of the floor.

Get some latex gloves

Lint brushes/rollers are great but quality ones can be pricey, and one sticky sheet doesn't go very far. Instead, slip on some latex gloves and rub your hands along your furniture or car interior to get rid of pet hair. You'll be surprised how great it works and how much fur sticks to the gloves. If you want to re-use the gloves, run your gloved hands under water, and the fur will come right off.

Add shaving cream to your cleaning supply list

There are many products out there that claim to work miracles on carpet or upholstery stains, but one of the most effective products out there is shaving cream, even on the toughest stains such as dog vomit and cat pee. This trick only works with foam shaving cream, like Barbasol. Spray the stain, let it sit and foam for a few minutes, and then wipe away with warm water. This trick will also work on your clothes!

Hear us out: wood skewers + baby wipes

The place where pet hair collects the most? Hard to reach places of course! For those really tiny spots, wrap a skewer with a baby wipe or disinfectant wipe and swipe into places such as cracks between hardwood floorboards, vents, and bathroom corners.

Keep a gentle cleaner on hand in case of emergency

Get a squirt bottle and fill it with half water, half white vinegar, and a drop of Dawn dish soap. This is not only a pet-safe cleaning agent, but it will work on everything from floors and walls to your suede sofa.
