1. Gather the Right Tools
First and foremost, you need to gather the appropriate tools. Depending on the state of your kitchen, this can run the gamut from a small list of items to a big one.
Most importantly, you need a broom, a mop, a scrubber brush, and steel wool. You’ll likely also need a dish drainer, a degreaser soap, and a multi-purpose cleaner.
If you haven’t cleaned your kitchen in a while, you’ll probably need a razor scraper also.
2. Get Rid of Clutter
Once you’ve gathered your tools, you need to begin the cleaning process.
This will start with the clearing of clutter. Remove all unnecessary items and put them either in storage or in other rooms (or get rid of them, if possible).
The clearer you can keep your drawers and countertops, the easier the cleaning process will be. You don’t want to have to clean around unwieldy items throughout the entire session. Keep them to a minimum and things will go more smoothly.
3. Clean Spills as They Occur
Kitchens are subject to all kinds of spills. Whether they sauces or soups or beverages or otherwise, they can impair the aesthetic of a kitchen.

Bonus tip: Your microwave, toaster, and coffee machine need the same amount of attention. They are, after all, used to prepare food and could very well be just as dirty.
6. Wipe Down Countertops Often
Countertops are often where the magic happens. That is, they’re where food is prepared. This means they’re especially prone to taking on crumbs and other forms of food residue.
A mistake that many homeowners make is allowing such residue to exist. It’s just crumbs, after all—what’s the worst that could happen?
Well, quite a bit. Depending on the types of crumbs that they are, they could actually cause the countertops to stain. Regardless of the types of crumbs, they could also attract mice and other pests.
For this reason, you’re advised to wipe down your countertops often. It’s advisable to so at least 3 times a day; once after every meal wouldn’t be a bad idea.
7. Remember to Look High
When you clean your kitchen, you probably focus on the things that you can see. This is natural, but it’s not sufficient. Just think of all of the dust that’s accumulating on your cabinets and refrigerator.
Every time you participate in a full cleaning session (which should happen at least once a month), you need to dust the tops of your high-sitting entities.
Allowing that dust to remain might not impair the aesthetics of your kitchen. But it could cause a toxic environment, one which induces allergies and other health hazards.
8. Clean the Floors
